How to measure a packaging box?
Important step to measure the packaging box dimension is specifying its height, width, and length. Most of the box has a standard box size. We listed below the common size of boxes that Golden Idea offers:
Standard Boxes: Height: 9” x Length: 15” x Width: 10”
Tall Boxes: Height: 13” x Length: 3” x Width: 4”
Long Boxes: Height: 4” x Length: 15” x Width: 3”
Creating a Dieline Template
There are two major factors that need to be considered for creating a paper box dieline template. These includes paperboard and box size. Creating a dieline template will provide accuracy. Therefore, your product can perfect fit the box packaging. You can check all the information below for dieline template creation.
- You can send us images of a specific paper box structure for customization.
- Thickness of the paper board
- If you send us a regular paper printed box, usually we assume that it has 0.5mm thickness especially for SBS paperboard.
- Let us know if your corrugated printed box is made from F Flute, BC Flute, E Flute, etc.
- If you want us to create a template for rigid paper box, let us know the thickness of the paperboard you require.

Important Details for Creating Dieline Template
Creating a template for a paper box has two main factors: the paperboard and the box size. In order to have an accurate fit of the product to the box, the right dieline measurement is a must. Following are the checklists you need to consider when sending us an email for a free template of a paper box.
Structure of Custom Paper Box
It would be effective if you could provide us with 1 or 2 pictures of the printed paper box similar to what you want.
Thickness of Paperboard
Thin Printed Paper Box
The thickness for a regular printed paper box is 0.5mm. It is usually produced from an SBS paperboard.
Corrugated Printed Box
If you want a corrugated printed box made of corrugated board, it would be helpful if you tell us the flute types: F, BC, or E flute.
Custom Rigid Paper Box
It would be helpful if you tell us the thickness of a custom rigid paper box you need. Whether you want 3mm, 2.5mm, 2mm, 1.5mm, or 1mm.
Dimensions of Printed Paper Box
Determine whether the size is the inner or outer side of the box. There is a difference between the two. Their difference is caused by the thickness of the paperboard. We need to know the dimension of your custom rigid paper box and corrugated box. If not, it causes big trouble in the future. Your product may not fit in the box and causing it to move or wiggle.

Specify the Height, Width, and Length in the Proper Order
L x W x H is the standard measurement for a paper box.
*When the opening of the box is facing upwards, the vertical dimension is its height.
The Importance of Dieline Template
Most of the packaging paper box has a two-dimensional structure design called a dieline template. It can provide instructions for the following:
